How To Install CentOS via FTP

Explanation of requirements.

I. A burned copy of the Centos netinstall.iso CD image
II. An active Internet/Intranet connection to FTP Server

Basic description of what will be done and what is expected.

1. Download a copy of the netinstall ISO:
ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/centos/5.2/isos/i386/CentOS-5.2-i386-netinstall.iso

2. Boot CD and choose FTP install method:
Boot the CD and choose the FTP install method you will receive a prompt asking you to input the following information:
A. FTP Site Name:
ftp://mirrors.kernel.org (For Public FTP)
ftp://10.107.1.237 (for Local Network FTP)
B. Centos Directory:
– /centos/5.2/os/i386/ (note: here you can change the arch to your system x86_64 or i386) OR
– /centos/os/i386
C. Check List “Use non-anonymous FTP” for receive a prompt asking you to input username and password to access FTP Server.
D. Follow the default steps like usual when your installing CentOS.

3. DONE
